A few years ago people were making a lot of money using this method, but today's real estate market makes flipping much more difficult. However, since many experts believe that the housing market may be approaching a bottom, that means the opportunity to make money flipping homes might return in the near future.
Currently, the only way to really make money flipping properties is by significantly improving the property while holding it. Although labor costs have eased somewhat, they are still high enough that it is very difficult to hire someone to fix or improve a property and still turn a profit. This essentially means the only way to make any significant amount of money is to do all the repairs or improvements yourself.
